wanted: literary agent

  1. Either new to profession or decades of experience.  If new, must join AAR.
  2. Must be able to handle foreign rights overseas either directly or through corresponding sub-agents.
  3. Must send specimen of agent-author contract and specimen of publisher-client contracts you negotiate.
  4. Must be able and willing to send regular updated reports of publishers' offers.
  5. Must not sign away subsidiary rights.
  6. Must streamline processing and disbursement.
  7. Must not co-mingle author funds and agency revenue.
  8. Must absorb expenses you incur or send list of expenses expected.
  9. Must have arrangements (will, agreements, corporate procedure, etc.) in the event of your death or disability to continue operation of my account, processing of money owed me, and handling of books.
  10. Must state your policy for handling unsold rights should we part company.
